SMS, email, or through a dedicated mobile app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Importance of OTP<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Enhanced Security:<\/strong> The primary purpose of OTP is to provide an additional layer of security beyond traditional username and password combinations. Using a one-time password, even if a hacker manages to steal or guess your login credentials. They won&#8217;t be able to access your account without a valid OTP.<\/li><li><strong>Protection against Identity Theft:<\/strong> OTPs are highly effective in mitigating the risks associated with identity theft. Since the OTP is generated for a specific transaction or session. It ensures that only the intended user can authenticate themselves and complete the transaction. By validating each transaction with a unique OTP. It becomes extremely difficult for malicious actors to conduct fraudulent activities or perform unauthorized transactions.<\/li><li><strong>Time-Sensitivity: <\/strong>One of the key features of OTPs is their time-sensitive nature. They expire after a short duration, typically within a few minutes. An attacker cannot use an OTP after it expires, even if they intercept it. This gives the user an extra level of protection.<\/li><li><strong>Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA):<\/strong> Multi-factor authentication methods often use OTPs as one of the credentials or factors that require to access an account or system. By combining something the user knows (password), something the user has (OTP), and sometimes something the user is (biometrics), MFA significantly strengthens the security posture.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Conclusion<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>As cyber threats become increasingly sophisticated in this era.
